This week the trees are really in bloom and the pink magnolia in my front yard has had Sweetness in awe as it begins to bloom. It’s the first year she’s really noticing the changes in seasons and it’s like watching them for the first time again through her eyes.
Mr. Man’s vocabulary is taking off and one of his new words is “tree.” He points them out all the time and is paying particular attention to them a great deal now.
So as Sweetness was pointing out the flowers again yesterday afternoon and announcing “Spring is coming” (it is still really rainy here and despite the calendar I have to agree, that it is coming rather than here), I had an idea.
I took out a piece of pink tissue paper, cut it in squares and ratted the squares up in balls. Then I drew trees. For Mr. Man (22 months old), I put lines of glue on the branches and demonstrated putting the paper on the branches. He went to town following suit. I really like that he touched one piece to the branch then decided it needed to go on the “ground” of the picture.
For Sweetness (3 1/2 years old) I put a little pool of glue onto a paper plate and told her to dip the pieces of paper and put them on the branches. She, clearly, had a longer attention span and wanted to go until all her branches were full, and even wanted flowers.
This little project took up about 20 minutes, was quick and easy, and Sweetness went down for nap talking about how she couldn’t wait to show Daddy her pretty pink tree.

Super cute! I can’t wait till DS is less interested in eating the craft project so we can actually start getting artsy 🙂

LOL!!! Those days will come, I promise. I could hardly wait until I could start doing these fun things with the kids myself. 🙂
Thank goodness; there are some days where I wonder if he’ll come home from kindergarten pooping the Crayola rainbow O.o;;

I LOVE those projects! My daughter (2yrs) has now brought home 3 similar projects from school. A chick in all yellow tissue and construction paper, an egg with several colors of tissue paper, and a bunny made with cotton balls!

Aren’t they just a blast? My problem is between the things the kids bring home from preschool and what we make, I don’t have the room on my walls/fridge anymore. 🙁
Oh that’s cute. I need to start doing stuff like that with Chessa. I’m just so not crafty.
My Milan is only interested in putting things in his mouth. Dont think he is quite ready for playing with glue, bit love the idea. So many things im looking forward to do with him.
