If you’ve been keeping up with my posts here on Heligirl, you know I’m a pretty adamant fan of Positive Discipline. One of my very favorite authors of books on this topic is the venerable Jane Nelsen. I have a great deal of information on her books in my resources section yet there is so very much more to her than what I can write.
In the spirit of giving thanks, Jane is having a special free shipping offer on her books all month this November at www.positivediscipline.com. You just need to add the coupon code “thanks” when you check out.
I truly can’t recommend Jane’s books enough. I have six and in my times of crisis, I’m running to them every time. She has them for all stages of your child’s life, from birth to teen, and even offers books for the educator looking to incorporate positive discipline into the classroom. They really are worth taking a look. I promise. If you’ve been thinking about getting one of these books, now’s the time. They’re really a steal, starting at $9.95. For less than $10 you can have some amazing advice at your fingertips 24/7.
My tip this Thanksgiving Monday is to take a moment to look over Jane’s books and perhaps consider adding one to your personal library. At the very least, stop by her site and get to know her a bit. Maybe consider putting a hold on one of her books at your local library. I promise in the pages of her books you will find great new advice and tips for dealing with difficult behaviors as well as helpful tools for interacting with your little ones in ways that help foster their self esteem and encourage them to be capable young people.
And while you’re on her site, take some time to read an article or two, look into a class in your area, or even join the Positive Discipline message board, where you can post questions and get answers.
Thank you to everyone who’s helped me bring Heligirl and my passion for Positive Discipline to as many folks as possible. Jane isn’t paying me to post this and I’m getting no sales commissions. I believe in her work and want everyone to know about Positive Discipline.

I found out about Positive Discipline when my son was 13 months old in a Mommie and Me type class. Thank goodness. Went out and bought PD, Birth to Three. Also have Positive Time Out and Positive Discipline. I wish everyone were given a copy of PD, Birth To Three as they left their doctor- before their first child is born (so they can start reading while they don’t have a little one to deal with). Such a fantastic way to raise a thinking, contributing, responsible little person. Keep spreading the word!!
